Mistakes at work

Chris Grayling made one five years ago which has cost tax payers £500 million - privatisation of the probation service.
How would anyone remain in a job if this happened in the private sector and had to answer to share holders?

Kaiser,
Reading your last post I felt that you viewed God like people would describe the child catcher from Chitty's Chitty's bang bang, and from experience I have met lots of people who feel the same. I once held similar views until I got to know the Bible better plus life experiences. However God is love, and in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 it tells us what love is.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.
I am nowhere near perfect, who is?, However it is my believe that I am a better person through the the gentle teachings from the Bible.
Today in church we looked at Philippians 3:17-21 that was about the importance of following Godly role models and secondly, to STRIVE to transforming into a Godly role model. All Christians should follow this advise.

Although I would maybe substitute the word shit, what you have done is described exactly what grace is.
Amazing grace - how sweet the sound - that saved a
wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.
Recognise the Hymn?
Grace is mercy, charity, clemency, leniency. To show kindness or compassion.
It struck me when writing the above sentence how the words above our very scarce in our vocabulary today.

The bit that mystifies me about Christianity is the belief that God made us all in his own image, and put us on earth with free will, so he could test us.
Because that’s what you’d do if you were a god, isn’t it - create things then see how they get on when you put a few traps in the way. Maybe rub a few out with an earthquake or plague and see how they react.

Galatians 4: 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son.
Romans 5:6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
The appointed moment in God's redemptive plan. Christ died for the ungodly (you and I). Christ's love is grounded in God's FREE GRACE and is not the result of any inherent worthiness found in its objects (humankind). In fact it is lavished on us in spite of our undesirable character.
Some Christians further believe that because of the transport infrastructure created by the Romans that allowed many parts of the Roman empire and beyond to be accessable to everyone, Christianity was spread in a way that was impossible before Roman occupation.

Came back to the office with a colleague about 7pm one evening after an afternoon 'out'. Went through the pair of doors out of the lift lobby, my colleague barged into one side of the doors - it jumped off its hinges and fell on top of me, pinning me to the floor. Managed to get out and stood the door up against the wall and went home.
Went in the next day and the door was back on, so said nothing. There was an email waiting for me from our Helpdesk, titled : 'its all on CCTV'
Made redundant three months later...........cant think why.

When I was an apprentice at a valve company in Basingstoke,I was given a job towards my course whuch was to put some Armco up to stop delivery lorries driving over the Managing Directors rosebeds..I successfully installed the barrier using scrap Armco from the local council..so impressed was the old man,he asked me to do the other door....then,I put the hired pneumatic drill through the armoured cable going into the machine shop ,casting them into darkness...I was popular with the machine shop staff as they were given the day off,with pay....not too popular with the MD though

Reorganisations are the big give-away.
Anything less than 2 years between significant company/department reorganisations is a sure sign that those "in charge" really haven't got a fucking clue how life works in the real world and that their underlying business process is a pile of dog's eggs.

I find it funny how they keep on coming up with 'new initiatives', that they give a fancy name too, design a fancy logo for, present to each other to great acclaim, before it reaches the real people who shrug, ignore it and it all quietly fades away.
Only for the process to be endlessly repeated under different titles once the previous effort has been dead and forgotten for long enough...

I'm sure that there is a school of thinking that runs along the lines of making/allowing mistakes to happen just so that they can charge in like some knight on a big white horse (can I still say "big'?), save the day and get shit-loads of attention/brownie points.

In my experience, most senior leaders, certainly at 6 figures plus, are completely unaware of their own incompetency - and its this ignorance that takes them there.

Whilst out in Afghan, I broke a brand new £80k satellite system when it fell off the AC unit we set it up on.... cos I was posing for "war story" pictures.
Got away with it :)
